Why does everyone want subscriptions on YouTube?

I don't get it... is there some sort of reward for a certain number of people subscribing to you? Please explain. Thanks.

well it basicly is like you get an e-mail when they release new videos so ask urself if u made a video would u want 1 person to see it or 1,000,000?and it kind of means ur popular ;D

when people subscribe to your youtube, they get notifications when you upload a new video... it helps in getting more views on your videos...
and yah, the more subscriptions you get, the more you're kind of like popular...
