Question involving youtube and windows movie maker...?

I just made a video on windows movie maker and I tried to put it on youtube. After, youtube told me that it was the wrong file name/type. So im wondering how to change the file type so I can put it on youtube. I dont want to download anthing or buy anything. I just want to know if there is an easy way to do this.
Thankx :)

you probably left it in a MSWMM format which is only the project file not the movie file, this causes youtube to not be able to recognize your video, giving you the invaid format message
follow these simple steps to get your video in an accepted format and get it up and running on youtube:

-open windows movie maker
-press 'import audio/video
-import the video you tried to upload
-drag it to the time line
-edit it (optional)
-press PUBLISH MOVIE (at the top of the screen in the middle) or if you have an older version of movie maker then press the file tab and then SAVE MOVIE AS (not save project as)
-press PUBLISH TO THIS COMPUTER/SAVE MOVIE AS
-name it
-save it

it will now convert to a WMV format and will save to your video folder
once it has completed do the following:

-go to youtube
-sign in
-press upload (in the top right hand corner of the home page)
-fill in the video information
-upload the video
-wait on that screen until it says your upload was successful and can be viewed shortly after it has finished processing

NOTE: it can take up to 6 hours to get a channel icon from your video and it can take up to 72 hours before your video will return in the searches but it can be viewed from your profile as soon as it has finished processing

all the best
-Jake

If you don't want to download or buy anything, then i'm afraid there is no way to convert the windows movie maker format.

I think youtuve automatically converts video into appropriate formats, are you sure it doesn't work?

You probably saved it wrong. I've did that twice when I started Windows Movie Maker and posted the on Youtube. Go on the Windows Movie Maker program and open up your video. Then your video should show up with the clips at the bottom of the window. Now go over to the left column with all the movie tasks and go to the 'Finish Movie' section and click 'Save to my Computer' then it'll start saving. That's when you can upload it onto Youtube.

If this isn't the problem then I don't know what is...
