What do you think of wikipedia?

I hate how anyone can delete, edit info but I like how sometimes it's very thorough and informative. I hate the bots that they have and sometimes the editors or the people that have power suck because they have this secret power greed and abuse their power. One time, I made an article and they deleted it so I defended my article but they still deleted it. Big jerks!

i think it is a good site but you have to be carful what you read on there since it is a user edited site. it can be very helpful when doing projects but you have to be sure what your reading isn't edited.

my teachers tell us not to use it when were doing projects and stuff since its created by people that dont always know what there talking about!
so i never really use it!

Its realiable most of the time if you look at the right articles but Its much better just to do your on research.

Yeh, that editing thing is a problem. But, it's their fault if they don't want more data to be added there.

i think wikipedia is informative. my cousin thinks all the info on that website is fake

its a good page that you can use for very importants activities and homeworks....

I use it to find biographies of people I'm interested in learning more about, but I take the information with a grain of salt. I like the fact that it offers links to more legitimate websites, and so to me that makes the site worthwhile. Even in college they teach you to not rely on the Internet as a reference source. It's too unreliable and impossible to do fact-checking.

i think Wikipedia is a great source to get information for homework of projects.

My teahcers have warned us not ot wikipedia on school projects, because they are created by one's opinion or one's little knowledge of facts. So yea it do suck, but as a user to that website you may create an account and may help keep the articles that you like up and all over the internet. So you have the power, use it. Good luck.

I love wikipedia! Anything that seems unusual to me i just look it right up on wikipedia!

I'm an admin on the site, just so you know we do not have "power greed". We consider ourselves to be janitors (which is the farthest thing from power) not kings. When we delete an article it is because it does not follow our policy, it's not because we don't like you the editor. I too was once new to Wikipedia and saw it like you're seeing it but now my opinions have changed on the site, as I now have a better understanding of policy. We (admins) are usually quite welcome to helping newcomers, unless of course we feel that the editor is primarily on Wikipedia to vandalize the content (which will get them blocked), so if anyone feels left out just contact an admin.

I personally think Wikipedia is a great site once you get the hang of it, and opposite of what a lot of teachers say, it has quite a bit of well referenced articles. It does need improvement, and always will till man dies, as more things will be worthy of being added to Wikipedia over the years to come. Hope that helps!
