How accurate do you think wikipedia is ? |
just wondering. i use it for a lot of studies . 98.3% Its fairly accurate, but you should always double check your sources with a governemtn or university website. very accurate I find most of it's pretty reliable and accurate. I would give it a 97% because some people have no idea what the heck they are talking about.... I haven't used it for studying or anything but the times I have used it it has been accurate. I mean it should be b/c it is so widely used. it's not accurate , anyone can writes on wikipedia, and they make lots of fake info. and wikipedia is not realiable source I'm Wiki's #1 fan. 97% accurate. The level of skepticism you should have towards Wikipedia depends on how important the info is. Besides, every article is written by different people so it's hard to generalize. theoretically, you can't trust wikipedia, but i find the information very accurate in it. however many scholars and universities and colleges ban students from using that as a reference. Well, I think it's pretty credible. It seems well researched... i think it's very accurate, but not completely because anyone can edit it , and change it what's interesting about wikipedia is that typically what you find as the "truth" on it is really a consensus of the collective. This can be fine if you're tring to find info on something non-controversial like cd players, but when it touches something more deeper such as alternative medecine or politics, then you really end up with a "consensus facts". So you really just get a middle ground, which has nothing at all to do with the actual truth. pretty accurate.. There are often editors' notes at the top of pages that have not met the criteria for a full review by staffers. It is accurate for many more obscure topics but terribly inaccurate on more widely talked about subjects and opinionated matters. For example I get good base information about quantum mechanical subjects from wikipedia, but I once looked up Bruce Lee who's wiki claimed he could do a number of super human feets such as punching a man and causing him to fly over 15 ft. It is pretty accurate, however, people can post whatever they want on it, so I wouldn't trust it if you are doing research for a paper or anything. I don't think you should trust it for your studies. There are plenty of other trustworthy sites that give you better and more accurate information than Wikipedia does. I think its pretty acurate, people check the articles like every second, but sometimes they make errors, one time my brother looked up Alex Rodrigiez and it said he was gay, so i wouldnt completly trust it for school or stuff like that but over all its good i think. it is pretty acurate but since it is entered by other users I would double check your work with a more tradional reference material Others than mentioned above, the accuracy depend on the subject you're looking for. If you look for something that everyone interested. It can be accurate up to 99.99% since it must have been contributed by hundreds of people. But if you look for a small town in Asia. It might be wrote down by one or two people, so the information there might be so-so or totally wrong. 50% it depends.....any one can put anything on it....but u can probobly test it out by using it and then using reliable sources to back it up It's completely unreliable! 90% Wikipedia can be trusted and is pretty accurate. 93.5% I've Done 1,543 Searches. It's pretty good, but there are 2 problems. |
