Wikipedia....? |
i always use wikipedia.com and i think its a great website, but my teachers say not to use it because it has "false information" since anyone can edit it. Teachers are generally paranoid about that, because they do not understand the concept. Yes, it is false information, I like it, but my dad said no, and now I researched, and anyone can edit anything, dont use it. I also think it has acurate information. the only time it would be inacurate is when a racist rewrites a racist article about the KKK or something like that. it's still acurate but from a racists point of view. and when a really retarted teenager writes LOOLLOLOLOLO or something of those lines. It can be changed to contain some wrong/misleading information. Use it but don't rely upon it for your sole source of information. Use multilple sources to verify anything. To rely upon any single source for important items would be wreckless. Joey is exactly right. Yes, it is possible for anyone to get on there and type anything they want. But with the ability for millions of people to enter things comes the ability for millions of people to review what YOU said. People want Wikipedia pure. If there is wrong information on there, either a moderator or a more knowledgable person is going to see it and fix it. I heard its false info as well and didn't realize it until my friends said so. I think sometimes the definitions sound legit! It's good for general research. But you should not use wiki as your primary source. Always, cross-check the information and never cite wiki as a source in your research papers. I do this, while Wikipedia has a plethora of information, just check out your information against another encyclopedia or website, and do not use it as your MAIN source of information. Wikipedia can sometimes be opinionated. I Edited Deleted Everything On bacterial Flora and added in some C**p!!! Yes, it is false information Even if you do not trust wikipedia's content, you can always use "Reference" sections in the bottom of the page and collect your information from there. i say go into wikipedia and use it but once you finnish it go to google or yahoo! and run a search about your subject and check it. try to go into sites that are more for grown up's it will give you better info and you can ask your dad to help you with understanding it. Teachers are generally paranoid about that, because they do not understand the concept. COMPLETELY FALSE!!!! SEE: |
