Is wikipedia always right?

Is wikipedia always right?

Don't completely rely on Wikipedia for research on a project. Whilst the information is usually correct, you might find yourself taking information off a vandalised/factually incorrect page.

If in doubt, but you still want to use Wikipedia as a source, check the last several revisions under 'history' to see if there are any major changes in a way that people are sabotaging the article.

However, usually the information is quite good and the more sourced it looks and the more contributors, the better it usually is. If there are tags for 'bias', 'weasel words' or 'lacks sources', try not to trust these pages.

some of it is in peoples opinions so no.

Not at all, anyone can put info on there, try different sources.

no not all the time.
a person who is famous got their bday wrong on there.....
but thats only a little mistake
they are usually right though

Not always. Since it can be edited by anyone there may be some areas where its more of an opinion rather than fact and some parts can just be completely wrong.

However, there are many good people out there that look around for such wrong entries and remove them.

Its mostly right, but probably best to try another source as well if its possible.

Sometimes. Wikipedia can also be REALLY biased due to the ability for anyone being able to change the information displayed on there. If you are doing a research project, use MULTIPLE websites, as well as Wikipedia.

No.

Many times, it is just people's thoughts and points of view.

So many times, they are just people that want to get their agenda across.

No. Anyone can go into it and edit what it says.

Anyone can edit anything, as long as its backed up with ANY type of source. So no, not everything is accurate. For some topics, people input really biased information.

Go ahead and try it, you'll be amazed at how much you can edit.

Wikipedia definitely is not always right, but it can be efficient. If you need to verify that a statement from Wikipedia is true, you should make sure that it is cited, and probably even check the source it came from.

i 鈾?bells

Wikipedia is based on trust,it's called the peoples' encyclopaedia; what is in there is what we contribute, e.g. I wrote into it a few days ago about the translation of a Welsh place-name and I was published, but I had to give them proof in the form of already written documentation that they could be confident enough to print it whilst at the same time it could be followed up by their research team.

YES. ALWAYS. lolololololololololololololololoo0lololo...

no because people can edit things like this one, read the last sentence

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cindy_Chiu

look at how they refer to her

No. I have watched my friends go one there and put crap that no one would believe. Anyone can edit the info on there.

I think it's entirely unfair to call this a stupid question. This person is obviously sincere and in search of some kind of truth. Wikipedia is open to interpretation as is most anything in this life. Your own research is always going to be your best weapon.

id say about 98% of the time it is correct.

but you can edit some of the text yourself so sometimes people dont put in accurate things.

Haha, no. It's useful to confirm something you already thought to be true, but otherwise it's too easy to be mislead. Anyone can alter entries, and it only takes a few people to create havoc. Also, it's not considered a legitimate source to cite for research.

Is Yahoo! Answers always right? No. But the system works because there are many people here to view all the questions and answers, so you have a decent chance of getting a good answer. The same is true of Wikipedia, perhaps even more so. Sure, some of the smaller articles may very well be inaccurate. But the larger ones, which draw more people, should be accurate, because if it wasn't, enough people would say so.

Are you crazy? Wikipedia is always wrong.

No, almost never...Not too long ago, some Feds or something put some different info about some important people on there...It wasn't all that true, mostly "fo sho"...

not it is not dont use it

dont trust wikipedia. there was a news report about a guy who posed as a ph.d in english and lots of other professions...and he was posting articles on wikipedia. obviously those articles are fake but i try to go to a different site when lookin things up. wikipedia is not always right!!

NO! Anyone can post something on there. i could too if i want to. Not like i ever will. that is why yo shouldnt take info from there. you never know if it is true or if its not. that is why i use books. or something else

hell yes it is!

SOMETIMES IT IS BUT HOW OLD ARE YOU BABY I AM 13
BABY BABY BABY!!!!!

No, some people edit it and type in stupid junk. It's not always reliable. You can't believe everything you read online!

well they have scientific answers in there, science has been TESTED and could have come out wrong or some accident happened on it which changed the predicament so it could be true and could be false just go with your natural instincs about wether its true or false

ALWAYS. ha.

As an editor/a contributor to Wikipedia, I have found it as a good resource for everything encyclopedic. However, ther's vandalsim to deal, so some of the articles are somewhat messed up. So, the answer is not always.
