How do you edit an article on wikipedia to replace the picture of someone with a better picture?

sorry if what ive written doesnt make much sence i basically want to know how to put a picture of someone wikipedia

On the left hand side in the "toolbos", use "Upload File" to transfer the picture from your computer to Wikipedia. Remember to name the file on Wikipedia something sensible (like the person's name in this case) and make sure you remember what you called it (I usually do a "copy" of the name after it's uploaded).

Then go to the page about the person and "edit this page" (top of screen). Then go to the place you want the photo
and hit the "embedded image"button on the toolbar (6th from left - a little framed photo icon). The words "example.jpg" will be highlighted - paste in your file name instead.

If you want it to be a small version, add the characters

|thumb

after the file name, and if you want a caption, add the characters

|my caption

after that (all still within the square brackets).

Then scroll down and hit the "Show Preview" button to see what the updated page will look like. If it's OK, then scroll down and hit the Save Page button.

That will add your photo. It does not remove the photo that is already there, but I think it's probably more tactful to leave it there. Let someone else say "hey, that picture is definitely better than the other one" and delete it.

Always remember that anything you delete on Wikipedia was put there by someone else, who might not agree with your opinion that what you did was better than they did. So try to "merge" your knowledge with theirs not just replace it.
