Publicize an alternative website to Wikipedia?

I am about to launch a website that should serve as an authoritative alternative to Wikipedia and have written a press release. Where should I send the press release? Email addresses, please.

Try bloggers that take tips. For example: tips@valleywag.com and tips@gawker.com

I can't imagine why you'd want to compete with a juggernaut like that. Not to mention that it has been and is being done, now (sorry, but I don't like to advertise anything, even free websites).

Regardless, you'll need to find internet-related newspapers, magazines, etc; they don't have to be online, and many wouldn't accept e-mail "press releases", because they get too many spam and other unsolicited materials. Phoning, faxing, or snail-mailing them will have a greater impact (make sure to include your name, address, phone number, etc, so they can contact you). Do the research on your own (hmmm . . . kind of a poor start for a website that, presumably, wants to be the preeminent research vehicle!). ;)
