They say users write wikipedia definitions? |
if its just regular people writing those definitions then why do they sound so smart? it sounds like experts wrote them, not users. You would have to assume that some of the regular users are indeed pretty smart. You don't have to be an expert to know what you are talking about (or, in some cases, to read something from say... an encyclopedia, magazine, or some other book and type it all in). Also, the information is a compilation of entries, so its not likely that one single person supplied all the information. When you have a bunch of contributors, you (generally) have higher quality information because everyone can check the facts and add little bits of information that they are familiar with. So in this case, a bunch of decently smart people can result in an article that is better than what might have resulted if only one person wrote it. Many of the contributors are 'regular people', but they research the topic, and take the time to put together a well written article. Many people take the time to formulate their information and present them in a clear, intelligent manner. Yes, but of course topics are subject to be reviewed and determined by the administrators of the site. you can not just add facts (or what you know). You must have reference or factual online textbook. yes it is, but they make it sound smart. thats what i said. who are these peeps who write this stuff? are they experts? if so, there sure are alot of brainiacs out there. they come home from working at taco bell and edit a wiki page. |
