Is there a way to get my own personal wikipedia-like site?

I've seen several sites that are done in the same format as wikipedia and I was wondering how I could do this?

There are several sites which allow you to create a wikipedia-like site. Here's some of them:

http://atwiki.com/
http://bluwiki.com/go/Main_Page
http://www.clearwiki.com/
http://www.openteams.com/
http://www.wetpaint.com/
http://www.wikia.com/wiki/Wikia

Many are covered above. Also, I like Zimbio.com

It works like a Wiki, but has many other features as well (forums, blogs, web page widgets, etc.). Pretty neat....

I use their E-Zine feature (anyone can modify it so,, technically it's a "wiki-zine") and publish it on my kite surfing website. It's called "The People's Guide to Kitesurfing."

You can also see what I mean about the widgets there (it's on the middle left sidebar): www.XLakeMI.com It covers what you are focusing on, but is modified by the users as well.

All in all, pretty fun. Not "a site" in & of itself, but (as you can see) it will help with whatever site or blog you wish to publish.

I hope this is of some help!

Feel free to e-mail me if you have any questions...

Sincerely,

Chaz@XLakeMI.com

You can make yoru own site exactly like wikipedia by downloading Mediawiki http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/MediaWiki
and installing it on your own server which you can get for free at http://www.100webspace.com/
