What to cite Wikipedia as...I know, I got permission to use it as a source, but what do I cite it as? |
Is it an electronic encyclopedia? Is the author just unknown? How do I cite it in MLA? I know it's not reliable, but our teacher said that it was OK to use for this...the article is Base 20, if that helps. Generally all the resources for the articles on Wikipedia are at the bottom of the page. Actually here is a cite from Wikipedia that details how to cite itself. i wouldn't cite wikipedia as a source. They have been successfully sued several times now for publishing misleading and patently false information. anyone can publish to wikipedia and they don't verify their information. it is technically a peer written information forum rather than an encyclopedia. Use www.citationmachine.net it makes it real easy to cite any source I would site the sources that Wikipedia sites instead of citing wikipedia. Wikipedia really can't be cited properly, but it has it's sources cited, and usually those soutces are good sources, so quoting those in your paper would be the best bet. That is what I would do at least. |
