Its existence was officially announced by Wikipedia co-founder[3][4] Jimmy Wales, who was running Wikipedia within his company Bomis, on June 20, 2003. Its approval by the U.S. Internal Revenue Service, by letter in April 2005, as an educational foundation in the category "Adult, Continuing Education" means all contributions to the Wikimedia Foundation are tax deductible for U.S. federal income tax purposes.

the people that everyone says

Most of the people involved in the Wiki are also members of Pro-Israel Jewish organisations in the USA and if you look carefully at the articles you will see that they are strongly pro Israel and anti-Arabs and anti-Islam. I used to publish articles on wiki a couple of years ago but they blocked my account and deleted all the articles that suggested and even proved Wiki鈥檚 relations with some Pro Israeli groups in the USA. Most Wiki administrators are Jews which should give you a hint!

The site is owned by the Wikipedia Foundation.

The content is owned by everyone and can be added to or changed by anyone. This is in line with the original intent of making the internet a truly free, global society.

However, despite this lofty aim and ambition, there does seem to be some censorship, as certain contributions do get erased, so maybe it is owned by people who are simply promoting their own agenda after all.
