Wikipedia is written by amateurs for amateurs and is full of errors?

I automatically give a thumbs down to anyone who quotes Wikipedia as their source.

Agree or disagree.

10 points for the best example of Wikipedia stupidity.

Ian M

I don't use Wikipedia for that reason but I don't automatically give a thumbs down to someone who used it.

NEWS FLASH: The history books were written by normal people. So is Wikipedia.

If you don't like it, use another source.
Personaly, I use Yahoo.

unfortunately your own opinion is entirely one-sided with no attempt to make a reasonable argument as to how you've managed to arrive at your self protayed 'informed' view that the entire content of a site so large is all inaccurate - there are errors in the world's best encyclopedias which are maintained by university educated academics, so i'm not sure what your point is? humans make mistakes? i think that's old news. :)

telling us that you automatically give a thumbs down to answers which quote a wikipedia source purely for that fact, WITHOUT checking the contents of said article to see if they're accurate or not, is self righteous and hypocritical at best - i hope you do actually make an attempt to provide correct answers yourself rather than just roaming around yahoo answers in search of wikipedia links to 'thumbs down'?

i'm stating the obvious in saying that every single page on the internet has been created by someone who feels they're correct, like wikipedia, but most of these are *without* a community to moderate them, so really you should extend your thumb-clicking to every person who quotes a website as their source too if you wish to remain at least consistent in your theory that the knowledge of people is worthless.

i disagree there are other places better than wikipedia.......

Disagree strongly.

one time somone said "I have a big butt" in an article.

I strongly disagree.
First off, people need to quote reliable references to make a good article you can trust. If these references aren't quoted, it either gets tagged as unreliable or good bye article, it gets deleted. And these references are made by people who know about the subject.
Second, the idiots who write nonsense on pages are promptly warned, and if this persists, they are blocked. And the page is restored as it was before the idiot edited it.
Third, people who actually take the time to edit Wikipedia won't edit articles they know nothing about. If somebody knows about literature, they won't go and edit an article on chemistry. And the vast majority of people is on the side of the guys who know and care about Wikipedia. The minority of idiots and vandals gets blocked.

Like my teacher says, "Wiki Icky."

DON'T USE WIKIPEDIA. ANY ONE CAN ADD FALSE INFORMATION!!!!!!!!!!

Wikipedia people are very stupid... There is an article about a parasite that lives on a certain fish (Can't remember it by name) that had no caps, was missing punctuation, had numerous spelling errors, and at the end said "written by chris". The Sierra Leone article also once said something about some celebrity, David something, getting hit in the back at the Sierra Leone Grammies, and that "Sierra Leone is where coco puffs were mized with fufu to make cocofufu". Wikipedia can be very stupid, although you have to admit that sometimes it is accurate.
