What is the point of wikipedia if any 1 can write on it?

Why do I find so much False information on it ?

XS: but if i already new all about what i was looking up. then why would i visit wikipedia ?

If you are a logged-in user and you create or edit an article, that article can be added to your watchlist; every time someone else edits it you will see in your watchlist and can view what changes were made. Most established editors are always on the lookout for changes to articles that may be untrue or biased, and non-referenced information is usually removed. The rule is "if you can't verify it from a reliable source then it doesn't belong in an article". See Wikipedia's Verifiability Policy here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:V...

There are also many users on the lookout for vandalism who revert it as quickly as possible, but sometimes you may reach a page before it has been reverted. If you think it may have been vandalised, check the history (click the "history" button at the top of the page). There you can see who has edited the article, and you can click on the "diff" buttons or compare specific revisions to see what changes were made. If it was indeed vandalised, then change it back to the version that was right! That's the beauty of an encyclopedia that anybody can edit.

If you think information is just wrong but you don't want to edit the article just in case, click the "talk" button at the top of the page and leave a note there. Tell them what you think is incorrect, why, what the correct information is, and provide links if possible so other editors can look into it as well. Your edit to the talk page will show up in the watchlists of other editors and they will respond to you, investigate your question, or change the information if you are correct.

The point is, if you find false information, you can correct it.

It's what they call vandalism on the net. That's why the members that actually do post true information correct it.

To get a collective meaning or description of things and events, if it's wrong, fix it. I use it mostly to research cities, people's opinions on parts of town, etc. and music.
