If I download Windows XP....?

If I download Windows XP will all my work saved on windows xp be deleted or will it stay there. If i redownload Windows XP will anything like Opera 9.5 BETA, Limewire, Windows Live Messenger be Deleted or ramain there

You won't lose anything just by downloading Windows XP.
But if you re-install Windows then you would need to re-install Opera, Limewire, Windows Live Messenger aswell

Pointless exercise.

Downloading it wont do anything, installing it might. Make backups of application data that you wish to keep( go to menu in windows explorer, tools, folder options, view, show hidden files and folders, this is where all your info is kept ) then go to your c:/ documents & settings, your name, then application data. Copy any other programs or documents to disk just in case. You can re-install windows and keep most of your stuff, but if there is a problem with windows in the 1st place best to do a fresh install and format the drive.
