How to transfer 'favourites' from old computer to new? |
My daughter is giving me her computer as she is getting a laptop. Mine is running XPPro on an old machine that is quite slow. I can make hard copies of anything I want to keep but my Favourites list is fairly big and has taken a while to compile. Can I copy it easily, or alternatively, is there a way to print it out complete with folder contents? in windows there is a feature called TRANSFER my settings. run it on the old computer save theat file to disk, take it to the new computer and follow the same steps until it asks if this is the new or old computer Yeah, I just don't know how, unless you are using firefox. Why not copy them in to a folder then transfer on to a usb memory stick. If you are running Internet Explorer 7, go to File > Import and Export > then follow the prompts to extract your Favourites out. If your running Firefox, go to Favourites > Organize Favourites > File > Export. I don't know about Internet Explorer 6 though. I think its similar. Then, email it to yourself or put it on some transferable media like a USB drive, and stick it into your new computer. Click the Start Button, then click My Computer, then click C: Local Drive, then Documents and Settings, then click "Your Name", then copy the favorites to a USB Drive and put them in the same spot on your other PC. Open My Computer > Local Disk C: > Documents and Settings > Your Account Name Folder > Favorites (this is a start shape logo > right click and save a copy of the folder to your jump drive Do a search for a folder called "Favorites" Yes, it's easy. All that you need do is copy the contents of the "Favorites" folder from your old machine and paste the data (shortcuts) into the "Favorites" folder in your new machine. You will find the Favorites folder here: My Computer/"C"/Documents and Settings/Your folder/Favorites. it can be easily copied & tranferred onto a flash drive/ext. hard drive or you can make a data disc. If you use Internet Explorer, you can press the Windows Key + R |
