What is going on and how can I fix this problem?

Everytime when I play Simcity 4, about 10-20 minutesafter play , my computer just randomly restarts. It's been going on for a while now, so I stopped playing it for quite some time, tried it again, and it still randomly restarted. So I uninstalled it and reinstalled it, but the computer would still restart. So I just gave up on and uninstalled it and put it away.

I just installed Roller Coaster Tycoon, just because I missed playing it, and after about and hour and a half of playing, my computer again restarted randomly. I've played RCT on this same computer (XP) years ago and I've never had this problem.

Now I know it's not the game, its got to be the computer. What is going on and what do I have to do to fix this computer?

Try and be as detailed as you can be please...

Thank you.

It is very difficult to diagnose the problem without actually taking a look at the system, but these are the things I would make sure first - before I try anything else.

1. Graphic Card Drivers.
Do you have the latest graphic card drivers?
If not, you could head to the website of your graphic card manufacturer and download the latest stable drivers and install them.

NVidia Website:
http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.asp...

ATI Radeon Drivers website:
http://ati.amd.com/support/driver.html

Do remember to uninstall your existing drivers first, reboot and then install the new ones.

2. Direct X Drivers
You would also like to check if your direct X drivers are upto date.

You can download the latest version of DirectX from here:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/detai...

However, whenever a PC restarts during playing a game, 95% of the times, it can be pointed to the graphics card drivers. So, I'd look there first.

might be your using up all your virtual memory space, close all your running programs in the back ground by right click on all the icons bottom right in the taskbar

does these happen to any other application?

maybe you are running on multiple task. Your virtual memory is used up. What you can do is increase the RAM or use your free space as your RAM

And your power supply is not enough. Therefore, it initiates an auto shutdown.
