Which is the best .avi file cutter or splitter software?

i want to know a software for splitting an .avi movie to collect the best parts from it. but it should not make the file to larger size more than the original. plzzz tell me....

There might be other options but Virtualdub is a good choice. It's freeware, has been around for many years, and is well supported. As with any tool, there's a learning curve but to do basic editing like making clips of specific scenes it's not complicated to use. You can also join clips together. Among other features you can choose to save clips 'as is' so whatever original codec was used is retained and thus the file size results are equivalent to the original. You can tweak settings to compress the video/audio even more and get smaller file sizes but with resulting loss of quality.

There may be alternative avi editors I'm not aware of but I can say this one has a solid reputation.
