Why do pictures on microsoft word 2007 move higher than i direct them to go?!?

This is really annoying!
i have had MSoffice 2007 for about 6 months now and i am beginning to notice this problem when I add a picture to the document and try to move it to another part of the page and it goes about an inch higher than i direct it to go!
I am am sick and tired of this!
Can you help me out plz! thnx!

also i have put the image on "square, behind txt or infront of txt", so tht is not the problem.

It's annoying when it does that and the way I've found to move the photo to EXACTLY where I want it is to select it, and then press the CTRL key and use the up/down/left/right areas to move it pixel by pixel to where I want it.

(This might only work by viewing it in Print Layout which is under View, Print Layout.) Because this moves to to the pixel, keep an eye on your margins so you don't move it off the printable page either. (Print preview before you print it!)

Of course, the more photos and text you add, and then adjust using this method, the more fussy Word becomes - I've gotten quite annoyed with it when I've had a lot of photos mixed in with various text - it can be very frustrating! It will do what you want eventually.

Hope that helps!

it matters where u paste the pic. also how u copy it

I noticed this the other day. It shows in the normal view, but in the print preview the picture was exactly where I wanted it. Weird.

Even though you sometimes format picture, layout and use the correct wrapping options it seems to have a mind of its own. Do you go into Advanced, and untick move object with text and click Lock anchor instead? This works better sometimes if you start adding more text, it makes sure the pic stays put.
Another way which I find much more stable is to use tables because then an image will stay in the cell into which you put it so you could for instance creae a 3 column table - take away the borders as you are using it only for convenience, put text in left side, pic in middle more text right, or however you want to lay it out, then tab to bring in another row and sort of repeat process.
