XP recovery disc question. I bought my computer 6 years ago with xp home. A relative "helped" me out after an

issue with it and installed on my pc a bootleg version of xp pro. I spoke with hp and they sold me a set of 10 recovery discs. Will this take me back to "out of the box" new? In order to keep all of my Programs IE internet info, documents, music, when I make back-up discs will everything off my hard drive, "C" be on them to re-install after the recovery?? Thanks for any help you folks can provide. Many points to the best answer.

Provided that you copy all the information that you wish to keep you put on the disks then yes. They are not on the disks that you purchased from HP. You have to physically back up the items that you wish to keep to a disk, including any pictures, documents, favorites, music, videos, etc.
Yes you will restore your pc back to factory setting when you do this.
Hope the info was useful to ya:)

yes you will need to copy all of the files you want to keep onto a cd or flash drive. re-install with the discs you bought, then copy all of your files back onto your computer. It will restore your computer to the same state it was in when you bought it. Make sure you keep those cd's in case of a crash later on.

If you run those discs it will be like right out of the box. All programs data everything you had created or installed will be gone.

To avoid that happening(your data be wiped) pick up a new hard drive and install it to that. Plug your other one in as a second drive and you can access all your data from "My Computer'.
