How do I plot positive and negative numbers on an Excel Chart?

I have a data set that contains positive and negative numbers. When I try to chart the numbers the positives come up but the negative numbers are charted as though I typed a zero instead of a bar that would be downward in direction. How can I get the chart to show both positive and negative? Thanks.

To keep it simple I'll explain it like this: I have months Jan 07 through Feb 08 in Column A and dollar amounts in Column B. Some of those amounts are positive and some are negative. When I try to chart the numbers the negatives come up just as zero. I am not sure what else I can add.

hmmmmm, the only thing that i can think of is that some of your numbers are getting read as text.

so here is what i would do.

move your data from B to D so you have info in D1:D13.

then in B1 enter = d1+0

Drag it down til Feb 08 and you should be good.
