What Ubuntu flavor is most like windows???

I put ubuntu on my machine i am using right now, and the family pc. the family pc is:
550mhz pentium 3
256mb pc100 ram & pc133
8gb 5400rpm harddrive
ubuntu actually runs well on this system(but the question is for the one below )
the pc is being replaced by the pc i am building:
amd athlon 5600 windsor 2.8ghz 2mb
250gb X3 harddrives with fans
geforce 8600gt
3gb pc6400 ram

My mom just cant get used to Gnome. What is better? xfce or kubuntu?

Oh, another thing. IS COMPIZ INCLUDED IN KUBUNTU??? OR IS IT HARD T SETUP?It is easy in gnome

Kubuntu is more like Windows. It has like windows the same sort of graphical layout. But it is also possible to change the layout in Gnome so that it will look more like Windows. Why don't you try them both out and see what your mum likes best? You can run multiple window managers on the same machine. Just switch between them. So in that way you could run Gnome and your mum could run KDE or Xfce. Just use synaptic to add KDE and Xfce to your newly installed Ubuntu pc.

I do not know if compiz is hard to set up under KDE but I think it will be probably just as easy as under Ubuntu.

i feel kubuntu is very good for windows users the advanced users can use gnome fairly easy i have kubuntu and ubuntu on my machine as vm images. though i find kubuntu easy to use.

Hi, I would suggest u try openSUSE.

Its a lot more polished, stable, and has a GUI for everything.

Yast is a complete GUI control center and makes the system look very professional.

OpenSUSE developers started the compiz project so yeah it has all the cool 3d effects.

KDE will resemble windows more than gnome and openSUSE does KDE very well.

The reason I am saying this is cause Kubuntu or Ubuntu r not as polished in fact Kubuntu is horrible and so is Xubuntu.
