My slideshow will not burn to DVD-R?

I have Windows Vista Home Premium. Naturally, when Windows Movie Maker comes with it and you have the option to "Burn slideshow to DVD" you would think that you could do just that. Well I can't. Every time I select that option after I click "Publish movie to DVD" I fix up the menu screen and then, while the blank disc is in there, I click "Burn movie" but then the disc tray will open and tell me to insert a blank disc into the E drive. Help please? I just bought a pack of DVD R's and I don't know why they won't work.

Do I HAVE to download some crap from a website by buying it in order to publish this to a DVD? I'm' not buying anything else, it's starting to get ridiculous so please spare me any "Download this for blah blah a month" replies please. Thanks in advance anyone.
