If a hard drive was formatted as 2 drives is there a way to return to one volume?

It is XP, and I really don't want to reformat the drive all over again, I just would like it to run as one volume instead of two.

Well whatever is on the drive you don't want to keep, you need to backup to the other drive. Pop your XP disc in and go in and delete the partition. Hope it helps!

right click My Computer, select Manage.
Under Storage, select Disk Management.
You should be able to see the partitions.
Make sure you know which partition you want to keep.
It would be wise to back up your information before proceeding.

You can merge partitions using a program called "Partition Magic".

Also, if I am not mistaken, you can simply delete the partition that DOES NOT contain windows, then you will only have the other partition. Before you do this, back up everything that the other partition had. Right click "My Computer", click "manage", then "disk management".

You'll HAVE to repartition the drive. And when you repartition any drive, you always RISK data loss and wiping everything out - this is the NATURE of repartitioning a drive.

GParted is a good tool, I'd recommend it if you are comfortable with computers.

If you are not comfortable with computers, either have someone else do this for you or reinstall your Windows system from scratch.
