If I install Xubuntu over windows xp, will I be able to easily uninstall it? |
I'm about to try out Xubuntu gusty on my computer that runs on XP media centre. I will use the CD that I burned with the OS on it. Will I be able to very easilly uninstall xubuntu, and go back to windows if I want? Will any of my programs be affected? Is this a task only reccomended for techies, or can I as a 12 year old kid attempt to install this OS. Fill me in on everything important. The desktop CD allows you to try Xubuntu without changing your computer at all, and at your option to install it permanently later. This type of CD is what most people will want to use. You will need at least 128MB of RAM to install from this CD. if you install over xp, that will require formatting xp and therefore losing the data (obviously backup). If you wish to return to xp, format it again before installing a fresh copy. Or, make a partition (splitting the drive into two) so that you can have one half xp one half ubuntu. Make sure you have restore disks for XP. If you do then it will be as easy as installing Xubuntu. Go ahead and install it, If you want it to be a little less complicated, try Ubuntu or Kubuntu. Unbuntu has a Gnome desktop manager, Kubuntu has a KDE desktop manager, and Xubuntu had an Xfce one. Xfce is arguably harder to use than Gnome and KDE. |
