How do I install two Operating systems on one drive?

I currently have XP, but I want to install windows server 2003 enterprise on the same drive how do I do this?

When I run the cd i get a blue screen saying an error has occured and windows has shut down to protect your computer..something like that, it thinks i am trying to upgrade to server 2003 from XP

You should not use it as a server,,,,,,when its not set as a server,,,,,,,,,,a server should run eec memory,,

unless your motherboard can run both,,,,,,

If you have the hard drive space to split the hard drive,,or
you can add another hard drive,,,,,,,
I have run two OS for years and not one problem,,,,,

The reason there is a desktop and a server,,is because you
use a server as a server and a desktop as a desktop,,,,
you can turn it into a server,,,,but there is a lot to it,,,not just installing server OS,,,,

I believe you just put in the disk, whilst the current windows is open, and install it on the windows C:/ drive.

you need to repartition the disk and load each os in separate partitions. you can then boot to the individual partition. Other option is to look into vmware

Unfortunately, it's very difficult and risky to install 2 operating systems when you already have one established on your hard disk.

If you still want to try, it's best if you defragment your Hard Drive first. Afterwards, you would need to run a Hard Disc Partitioning utility that would split your hard drive into two logical drives. Then on the 2nd logical drive, you would install your Windows Server 2003.

If you'd rather not risk losing your data from windows XP, a cheaper overall solution would be to buy a second hard drive from Newegg and install the 2nd OS there.
