Help! Sound issues on my computer!!!?

This just started this morning. I can not get my computer to play music on my Windows Media player. Videos on You Tube will not play sound either. I can hear music on Winamp but it sounds really weak and distorted.

Could you please help a poor computer illiterate soul? :)

I have rebooted and checked my audio settings. I thought about uninstalling and reinstalling Windows media but I don't see any way to do it. ( thinking it was a corrupted file )

I'm thinking it's a computer issue on your end. The first question I have is can you hear sound on your PC from things other than WMP and YouTube?

Might be a short in your speakers. I'd try getting some new ones and see if that solves it. If not, you can always take them back to the store.

Bummer!! The only help I can give is to star the Q so that maybe someone will see it who *can* help....

Hope it fixes itself ~ that's what I'm always waiting for my electronic equipment to do... Or as my favorite tech guy says - Have you restarted it? :-)

Oh, and wiggling all the wires ~ about as technical as I get!

My PC did this to me a few months ago.
If I remember correctly... go into Control Panel, and 'Sounds and Audio Devices', and check the volume settings.

This *hopefully* will sort it ~ computers sometimes reset themselves for no reason!
