I recently down-loaded a new version windows messenger and i have new earphones with mike, which test well?

my problem is when i connect to messenger the video is fine but there is no voice connection to or from the person i'm talking too.......everything is fine with other persons equipment........
could it be a driver problem ??? software or program ??? please help !!!!
