Good Firewall for Windows Vista?

Recently bought a laptop from Currys and now wondering is there any good recommended FREE firewallls out there. If you do know any please make sure its compatible with Windows Vista operating system. Many thanks in advance.

Hi There,

I would use Comodo Personal Firewall (http://www.personalfirewall.comodo.com/)... Its Vista compatible, totally free and got a 5-star rating from Download.com. In my opinion, it's much better then other free offerings like ZoneAlarm.

i would say zone alarm if you want a free one

Zonealarm

well if u have windows vista home premium it should come with all the security u need. but if u dont have that u should get pest patrol from roadrunner. its free for up to a year.

The firewall that comes with vista is one of the best out right now... so yea, just make sure that you have it turned on :)

Your Windows Vista is built-in with "Windows Defender" already. It is actually a firewall. You just need to update it online like you do when you update your operating system.

Vista comes with a built-in firewall, though it is limited in function. Just combine it with the free Zone Alarm software firewall application.

I have windows vista home premium and i use Comodo personal firewall.
This is a great firewall and is 100% free
It learns the more you use your pc and is not resource hungry.
You can find it here...

It also supports 32 and 64 bit pc's

I've seen a few people write Windows Defender is a firewall. This isn't entirely true. Windows has it's own firewall, but shouldn't be entirely counted on.

If you have a wireless router given to you with your ISP you will have firewall ability on that (which can block ports but not programs) and defender will look after dangerous programs trying to get out.

Otherwise I would like to suggest 'Tea-Timer' that comes with Spybot Search-and-Destroy (http://www.safer-networking.org/en/index... which will give you an idea of what is coming in and out, and is also a very good spyware removal program.

vista has a firewall built in. use that but you dont really need one now unless you frequent porn sites or download a lot of illegal stuff
dont listen to that windows fire wall sucks crap, its updates itself and who you going to trust to recitfy windows loopholes, some crappy company or the multi billion dollar juggernaut that relies on it making effort to keep security good
