32bit To 64bit?

I have a 32bit windows vista on my laptop but my processor is cabable of running 64bit, how do you change from 32bit to 64bit. i've already got the 64bit dvd but i don't know how to change it

oh btw is 1gb of ram enought to run 64bit????

Just pop in the 64 bit dvd and restart your computer, booting from the dvd. It then begin installing. But really there is no point in going to 64bit unless you have over 4 gb of RAM

close your eyes and wish it 64... worked for me :)

DO NOT SWITCH TO 64BIT!!!!!!!

You are going to have a nightmare running it with one gig and there are hardly any programs that support vista, let alone 64bit.

Best way, Get a computer shop to do it for you, Or read a guide on how to reinstall you O.S. But i suggest getting a PC shop, because if you do it wrong you will be paying for it in the end.

The only way to move from 32 bit windows to 64 bit windows is to do a clean reinstall :(. 64 bit windows also has much worse hardware and software support.

Frankly unless you have lots (more than 2GB) of ram and apps that require it or you specifically need to test stuff on 64 bit then switching is just going to be a lot of pain for no real gain.

64bit vista is great, if youve got the hardware to support it.

The downsides of 64 bit vista is the fact that you have virtually no TECH support. A lot of the device drivers are still in beta for 64 bit Vista. 1 GB of ram is enough to run the program but not much else. The biggest advantage of 64 Bit Vista is the ability to Identify and Address 8 GB of Ram.

I wouldnt recommend it unless you already have a lot of 64 bit software and hardware prepared for this move.

Why would you want to change to 64-bit? Bragging rights?

If you don't have a need for it (ie, no programs you're using requires it) , don't install it. It will cause your overall computer performance to be slower overall.
