Why run "chkdisk/f " on windows home XP? |
The message on the bottom right ask me to right a chkdisk. I don't seem to know why. But I did it anyway. Can you tell me why? This pop-up ballon comes due some unwritten cache or temporary files while installations or viewing websites. Its the basic line of defense of Windows XP to protect your computer from viruses and malware and unwanted files. These files are called lost chains. The are worked up and corrected the "chkdsk" The reason your computer wants you to do a check disk is usually because you have bad sectors or something wrong with your hd. run a chkdsk /f /r The /r will move data from the bad sectors to good sectors. Then I would look into getting a new hd. Sometimes XP would automatically run chkdsk after a restart when ran into several problem ex. hanged or loss in power. It does it to check on system's consistency and try to detect bad sectors that may create problem in its operation. Thus, chkdsk:/f means it tries to see consistency in your F: drive. |
