With boot camp on mac, can it run exactly like a windows pc would?

Would I be able to do almost everything i could on a windows on a mac (bootcamp) like gaming, microsoft office, media center?

I am choosing between getting a custimized Dell xps 420 desktop or a Macbook pro 17"...amazingly the specs are similar (except for HDD space)

Yes- Just make sure you partition your Mac hard drive prior to installing Windows.

The only thing you would need Windows for is gaming - everything else is better on a Mac.
