Will taking the "Aero" theme off make vista run faster?

I'm just wondering, since you need a certain amount of RAM to run the Aero theme, will taking if off make your computer run a little faster?

I have 2GB's so it runs just fine, but I'm just curious if taking that theme off will make it run even faster. Thanks!

No what will improve performance if you have them running to begin with. Side Bar, Dream scenes , The side bar is nominal but will speed up startup. Dream scenes on the other hand will bog you down.on a single core cpu expect a 20-35% load.7-12% on a dual core.

If you want to try to give Vista a little boost and have a spare flash drive insert it into the usb, Format it to ntfs then right click it to enable speed boost on it. It will act as a fast write page file..

I did that and did not notice any speed difference, so I keep aero on.

It might even make your computer slower, as Aero utilizes the graphics card to process the desktop, freeing up your processor. Keep Aero on.
