What ghosting software works with vista?

I have windows xp and vista installed on my hard drive. is there any ghosting software that i will not need to re-install windows or re-activate windows when replacing a motherboard?

Microsoft just happens to have a procedure for that. Replace the motherboard, call them (assuming your Windows is registered) and they'll "deregister" it for you, so you can register it with the new motherboard. (If you haven't registered it yet, you have no problem.)

you should reinstall the os if the new motherboard is using a different chipset and devices (sound, etc). if you don you will spend a lot of time trying to change/install new driver software.

I think you can save yourself a lot of time and hassle by making a backup of all your data and doing clean installs of the OSs.

when changing the motherboard ghosting is not the correct option , like the poster before me stated your gonna run in to drivers issues unless you install the same board , if thats the case then i would use norton ghost for creating that image
