Is there a way to get a list of all your files, or files within a file (XP)?

For example in the file folder documents - is there a way to get a list of all documents. I have in the past taken screen shots of the page, but often that requires two or more depending how many files there are. I'm hoping for some kind of list that might be able to be copied into excell or word.

There are programs out there that can do this, but I have not seen a free one. There is a simple means of doing this within XP directly:

First, create a new text file in the directory you want the list from. Change the file extension from .txt to .bat. Right click on that file and click EDIT. paste this code inside:

@dir %1 /-p /o:gn > "%temp%\dir.txt"
@notepad "%temp%\dir.txt"

Save the file, close it, and run it. You should end up with an open notepad file with a list of the directories and files. This will not include hidden files, nor will it include the files that are inside a folder within that directory.

Windows Explorer. XP also has a built in compression tool like winzip, so if you click on a compressed folder that was created by xp then in the right pane it will show its contents as well.
