How do i repair XP without deleting any of my files or programs?

I saw that i would have to make sure the BIOS is set to boot from the CD

How would I do that?

I also want to know where I could download the XP CD from?

some of the previous answers are partially correct with regards to repairing your windows installation but to correctly repair windows without losing any Data proceed as follows if your pc is set in the bios to boot from cd ( if not on boot when you get the post or in simple terms the black and white writing ) start continuously pressing the F11 key this will give you the boot options box then you can scroll to CD and press enter, either way put your windows installation cd in the drive and reboot you will see at the top of the screen Press any key to boot from cd when you see this press any key and it will start the windows installation, continue with the installation but DO NOT SELECT the first option to repair windows this is the recovery console just continue untill you see the second option to repair windows and select this option and press enter, continue from there as though you were reinstalling windows and it will repair the original windows installation without loss of any data whatsoever.

Put you XP CD into ur Cd drive. Click install, select UPDATE. It will reinstall your WindowXp without deleting any file. Good luck

There is a such thing as a repair install, if you have an XP CD.

Depending what you need to repair, you can perform some tasks from a bootable CD such as Ultimate Boot CD for Windows (ubcd4win.org).

when the computer is booting up hit the F8 key to get into bios and look for boot priority, download XP cd, well you can purchase and download it at microsoft.com (cough, or download the torrent, google how to download torrents) after you get the cd, pop it in reboot and tell it to repair windows...

Just re-install xp, when it asks about to format, DON'T. Just reinstall over the old system, everything will still be there.
