How could I compress(not by zipping) movie files?

I hear there's some programs that'll make movies files smaller and I don't mean by zipping it or anything like that. Anyone know of any programs that do that?

What type of video file are you trying to compress ? File size ? Resolution ? etc...

Compressing video files = qaulity loss.

Best thing to do is, convert the video file to a smaller video resolution.

Also reducing the video's bitrate will decrease it's file size. If qaulity is not an issue for you.

Also depends on the type of codec used to compress the video file = output size.

Converting to mp4 makes the file smaller but usually .mpg and avi are better file types, bigger and clearer normally.

I would not compreess files especially if you are using windows xp because it will cause your computer not to work.. That happened to me once.
