Can anyone help me out with Nikon PictureProject?

I installed the cd for it already, and i downloaded some pictures from my D40, but some of the pictures are unable to be edited. It just says unknown error when I click on the editing tab for some pictures. Also, I don't know how to save the pictures that I upload onto the computer so I can access them.
Any info you have would be great.
