Update ubutu linux?

when i try to update my ubuntu linux computer it says:

E: dpkg was interrupted, you must manually run 'dpkg --configure -a' to correct the problem.
E: _cache->open() failed, please report.

how do i fix this????

Dude, just open terminal, and type: "sudo dpkg --configure -a"
(without the quotes), and it will work again. Let me remind you this is because you ended (terminated) the install or update of a program.
