is linux gnome a good version for beginners and newbies to linux ? thanks !!! As others have metionned, Gnome is a desktop option. It is often preferred with people of limited Linux skills because its configuration options are more limited than KDE (it is easy to get lost in KDE's options!). yeah its called unbuntu: yeah. kde is eaiser for people making the windows to linux transition. Gnome is a window manager that can be found on multiple Linux distributions. I personally prefer KDE, but Gnome is simpler and a good choice for beginners.
