I bought a new desktop 6 months ago that came with Vista. I hear there's a free and easy way to downgrade to

XP. Is there a site to go to where I can do this? If so is it actually easy? Im not at the bottom for pc knowledge, but Im definately not at the top either. If Im sure i can do it, I will; otherwise if there's any doubt, I will probably keep Vista(which I dont like).

No, no, and no. There is no free downgrade, no site you can go to, and no easy way of doing it. Only for Business are downgrade rights available. All others, including Basic, Premium, and Ultimate, require you to purchase a new copy of XP.

Downgrades are not usually easy, depending on your technical skills. XP does not include many chipset drivers that Vista does, so if you don't know how, you will not be able to install XP to your hard drive. You have to look for XP drivers for your hardware, which your manufacturer may or may not have available.

Microsoft doesn't offer this but maybe your PC vendor does. Some did offer XP as an OS option, but not sure if they offered as a separate "downgrade" or if you had to choose at purchase time. Contact the vendor of your PC and see what they offer.
