Excel MAXA formular question.?

Say for example in Column A I have initials of various sales person (TL, GL, SE) and in Column B I have the date of the last order that came in under their name. I am looking for a formular that doe's a MAXA on the date column but only on the Row's where TL appears.

Any ideas

Many thanks

This is easy with an array formula:

=MAXA(IF(A1:A100="TL", B1:B100, 0))

Input this using Ctrl-Shift-Enter rather than just Enter.

It will look in A1:A100. If it finds "TL" in a cell, it will consider what's in B on the same row for the MAXA function.

I hope that helps, but add more details or e-mail if you need more info.
Best of luck.
.

try using an IF formula.

You could use an Excel query (advanced filter) to create three pairs of columns in an unused section of the worksheet, each for TL, GL and SE exclusively, then use your MAXA on each of the separated columns.
