Why do so many people slag off Vista ? |
I have both XP on my desk top and Vista on my lap top and i can honestly say i have never had any trouble with Vista's stability, performance or any other issues which so many say they have experienced. There is a very simple answer to your question that everyone above ^ seems to not want to acknowledge... Neither have I. Vista ROCKS!!! coz its **** Well, I got Vista a year ago...it was a nightmare then, as nothing was compatible with the damn thing..took 6 months to get a printer!!! There are many older software and peripherals (printers, music devices, scanners, cameras etc etc) that are not compatible with Vista so have to be replaced. People did the exact same thing to XP when it was released. There are just some that dont know alot about computers and would be quick to make comments on things they only read on the net. people are fed up being testers for Microsoft . When will they ever release a product that works straight out of the tin without the need for constant updates for flaws discovered in their products There are no problems for Vista users on machines with pre installed Vista - the problems seem to occur when people upgrade OVER XP. to be honest, i see nothing wrong with vista. Vistas OK the only thing thats not good is IE7 which keeps freezing! Grrr i liked it at first but it sucks. i like how neat it is. but seems slow and take too much space. i dont know. Its pretty annoying to get it to be the right environment for you when you're working which is what I have found!! Its very finnicky!! Vista was released too early, without sufficient testing. One of the more commonly-cited problems, which I have seen first hand, is its distinctly lacklustre approach to file copying - can take up to four times as long as an XP machine. I now have Vista on my new Gateway Notebook. I have made 5 clean installs because of Vista's bad security. You won't live long without a good antivirus, bud. it cost money, should try ubuntu its free well i have vista on my laptop and sure it looks good.overall it is stable n fun however since people always get accustomed to what they have been using for a long time they always tend to get bothered with the pro's n con's of a new product.also XP being an alternative option even today the mass user is not too comfortable upgrading, and that too if its only for the looks.however for more serious users the ease of working is more important. Dunno, i love it, it's fab. My experiences is similar to your's. I also have Vista and find it extremely enjoyable. I think alot of people have problems no matter what the life situation is that faces them. I say, when you come to the stream, cross the d*&% thing and get on with it. in recent tests shown in neowin they benchmarked wik xp sp3 against vista win xp was 10 percent faster. so the main reason people slag off vista is the fact that its a resource hog 15gig of your hardrive space and 50% of your ram plus it has been unstable.it can also give you headaches with the cascade effect Vista has too many bugs, XP is the best at the moment. Ever since the release of Vista, the sales were poor, due to Vista being accused by some as RAM hungry and third party software unfriendly. Since then, the sales have now shot up as Microsoft improved Vista by releasing service pack 1. XP is an excellent OS and naturally, some XP users will accused Microsoft of greed, that we will have to part yet more cash, and not only that, you need to buy more specifications in order to run Vista and that means more money for companies that make graphics cards and expensive computers. There is nothing wrong with Vista, you will have improved security than XP, better entertainment quality, 3D graphics (note - It's not really 3D, just clever trickery), and directx 10 for serious gaming. You yourself may not have had any stability or performance issues, but many other people have. And the point you raise about people's hardware isn't of a good enough spec - why should it be. Why should you have to increase your memory and buy a new graphics card (and possibly a new processor) just to run Vista when XP runs fine. Vista has driver issues, stability issues, it is slower than XP, and the soon to be released SP1 for Vista breaks a large number of software for Vista. Microsoft has invested literally billions in Vista yet no one ever asked for it and there doesn't seem to be any rush to upgrade to it. The saying goes - if it ain't broke, don't fix it. And XP ain't broke - XP with SP2 or even SP3 when it's released is perfectly stable and acceptable and XP SP3 is quicker in performance than Vista SP1. The only reason to upgrade to Vista is if you are a gamer and you must have DirectX 10 - why do you think Microsoft are keeping DirectX 10 from XP? People are Luddites, they don't want to embrace new technology. |
