Why does my computer keep saying windows not responding it's really annoying,i've got norton 360.?

All of these people who are not answering your question and telling you that your security software is the problem do not know what they are talking about, they are clearly not technicians, and they obviously care more about their biased opinions than helping you with your problem.

Programs can say "not responding" for a bunch of reasons. You could have too many programs open; you could be running out of hard drive space; you could have a conflict with the installation of the program; it could be a poorly coded program; it could be malware; etc...

First of all, I assume you mentioned Norton because you fear it may be a virus. The best thing you can do is to make sure Norton 360 is updating by forcing a manual update and then reboot and perform a complete scan before you open any programs.. and you may first want to close any in the tray that are running at startup. You could also do a web based scan from symantec.com if you suspect malware has disabled the security.

As for the specific "not responding" message... what exact program is it coming from? It is not coming from your Operating System.. which is "Windows".

That being said you haven't provided enough informaiton about the program actually giving you the error for anyone to give you a proper answer aside from what I have given you to troubleshoot it.

If you continue to experience the "not responding" error on the same program then try reinstalling it.. or take your computer to a reliable and qualified technician.

Good Luck

You have just answered your own question! "i've got norton 360."

Any Norton program is the source of all problems! ;)

Have you cleaned up your disk and defraged lately?

Do so, then shut down and start again.

The biggest problems with computers is the users. User Error and not a virus or trojan.

There is nothing wrong with Norton or Symantec, until your free subscription expires and then they start to bug you to renew, slowing up your computer. All those little icons down there on the right hand side, near the clock... do you use them all? Exit out of the ones you don't use. They slow down your start up.. all these little unused things. Get rid. It is not a virus.

hey whats up, I had the same problem for several days in a row believe me I understand how annoying it can be! But after a few days of it doing Thatt it will prompt you to download a new version of windows live messenger and if you go on and do that you wont have the same problem because I have not had a single problem since I did that and tha was probably a week ago. I also have the Norton's so that downloading will solve the problem . Good luck!

Norton 360 hogs a lot of resource space. Try AVG free, it is a full version anti-virus and it's free! You could also go to download.com which has other free anti-virus software programs.

No 'Gyron Man. Any norton program is not the source of problems. Norton works fine for me. Yes 360 slows down your computer so much it is hard to work with but otherwise norton is fine.

If you want to make your computer fast defrag the hard disk. Think what you last did, this might be the source of the problem =]

Hi,
the first thing to do is to uninstall "Norton's" you have to get a tool from they WEB site to do it correctly (Yes it's that bad). then just install AVG which is free and comes with free updates to replace it.
as for your system freezing just download a free copy of CCleaner and run it which will safely delete all your temp files etc for you, then reboot your system and defrag your hard drive to get all your free space back again. i know this will help you.

I had the same problem,..download AVG anti virus (free) from www. download .com and then install and run .Found 2 trogans straight away cleaned them up and now no problems ...good luck
I'm not renewing my norton 360 as I only get problems with it

just get rid of norton & use something else.
