Somthing scaning my computer called xp antivirus?

It says I have 52 viruses spy ware etc and then it suggests i buy a program firewall etc for 54.00 i cant get rid of it and my coputer is acting slow and erratic can I get rid of the problem without spending money, how?

XP Antivirus is a rogue program with misleading results; you don't really 52 infections, you only have one... the trojan that brought XP Antivirus into your system.

And since this is a trojan-brought infection, I would suggest running Superantispyware after the removal to get rid of any other malware that the trojan may have brought in.

Sounds like you have a rogue anti-spware program that is more of a spyware program.

There is probably no problem, just a scam that you get if you go to a cetain wesite.

Get AVG free edition if you watn to be sure.

Use Adaware to kill it. In the rare occasion that it doesnt use Spybot SD.

I've never heard of that anti-virus software. If you have norton or mcaffee etc. run a scan with that and see what it tells you. Otherwise i'd give your computer manuacturer a call just to be safe.

Man.... That sucks, thats actually whats giving you the virus. A virus that acts as an antivirus and then tries to charge you for the full version to clean itself. I would try to use AVG or AVAST. Also you can download Norton and use it as a trial to delete the viruses. Try the first two. One last way is to actually google the name of the program, sometimes you can find guides on how to get rid of it.... Good luck

You're infected with some malware. Probably adware to be specific.

I advise you to INVEST in a proper security suite that includes total protection from all types of malware (ie, antivirus, firewall, antispyware, etc) and is from a RELIABLE vendor (like McAfee Total Protection or Norton 360).. either way you MUST ensure it is properly configured and kept completely up to date.

Then reboot and run a scan.

most likely you may have to have a computer tech come out and work on it.
the worse thing that could happen is that he will have to wipe ever thing off the PC to get it to work again.
