How can I regain a hacked thing?

Whenever I go to the site "www.orkut.com", a message comes on the screen "Operation Aborted: Orkut is banned, you fool. Guess who did this?..Muhahaha". As far as I know, that site has been hacked on my comp. How to regain it under my control?

Even when I downloaded Mozilla Firefox to browse the internet, the message came "Sorry, you can't use it."

It would have been much better that you should have mentioned that how you are connected to Internet and whether there is a firewall or not.

1) First make sure, are you using Orkut from office? **they may have banned / blocked and put this message**

If this is the case, then there is nothing you can do to access Orkut unless you use an anonymizer / proxy server like www.blackcode.co.uk or www.k-proxy.com etc.

2) To ensure that you are not infected with a browser hijacker or spyware, use Spyware Search and Destroy (free) from www.safer-networking.net . This one is the best and can save / fix from a number of threaths.

if "2" does not help you then try this:

3) Open "C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc" -- you may replace "C" with the drive letter where you can installed Windows and open file named "HOSTS"

In this file, see if an IP address like 66.249.93.85 or any other is there, just delete it and save and close the file.

backup files, reformat and reinstall everything from scratch. it is drastic, i know. but i assure you that it is less headache than cleaning.

run a Spyware Scan... go to Www.Download.Com & Download either Kaspersky or ZoneAlarm or another Top rated Spyware or Adware Scanner... and Scan your PC..

also try a direct to go to Start and click on Run..
type CMD
and type "ping www.orkut.com" and hit enter
See if you are able to still get a Reply

and if you can't download it go to here

http://housecall.trendmicro.com/

and click run scan it will scan your PC remotely and remove Viruses, Trojans, Adware
