What are 'cookies' in relation to your PC?

Are they harmful?
How do you find them / fix them?
lm still learning!

Cookies are a small data file, generally related to Web based content. They are often used to create 'session data' which tells a website you are visiting when you arrived there, who sent you there (eg a search engine or a site referral etc) and other data they may wish to store.

Cookies are in general harmless. Some cookies are picked up by spyware scanners as 'tracking cookies' which the scanner will tell you could be dangerous. This is dependant upon the site. For instance your online e-mail account at Yahoo is likely to have a tracking cookie.

Cookies can be used by web sites with malicious intent, so it is worth using a spyware/malware scanner and looking through the cookies it highlights. You simply need to apply common sense to which ones need deleting.

There is not really anything to fix with cookies. Simply remember that not all cookies that are highlighted by your spyware/malware scanner as bad will really be bad. Consider which site they are from and whether you know why they are there. Don't worry if you delete a cookie as the site will recreate it when you next visit.

Cookies are generally stored in your Temporary Internet Folders.

a "cookie" can be either helpfl or harmful to your computer. What i does is allows the service or website faster and easier connection to your computer.if it is a good cookie, then it will make it easier for the program to launch.
you can find access in the intenet options on your control panel. select the privacy tab

Cookies can be more of a privacy issue than a spyware issue. Your virus scans will detect cookies from sites that are known to be affiliated with spyware.

Cookies help to keep settings and session variables for each website you visit.
