Please help..did not get help on my last tweo questions & am very worried about a computer security question?

My son said to install comodo but he did not tell me if I was supposed to shut off windows xp firewall as I thought it is bad to have two firewalls. So I shut it off and it says I have no firewall protection. Tried to install comodo and do not know if it is installed and protecting. Me it said when installing I might have gotten malware and do I want a check I said yes..it is doing that. The windows xp still says I have no firewall. Wehn I go to add remove I do not see comodo nor any desktop icons. Is it on there.

I went to search and saw it said there were 4 files from today that say comodo..does this mean I am protected even though windows xp says I am not.

I thought maybe I should remove comodo and put windows xp back on till my son came help me in a few weeks but see no way to remove

it or know if it is on there.

Someone told me to check taskbar and hover over the comodo icon but there is none..just takes me to the windows xp saying no firewall.

Please help as I am getting ill worrying about this/

It sounds to me that comodo was not installed correctly and is faulty.

You are correct, you can't have two firewalls running at the same time.

I have been building and repairing computers for 15 years and I do not use third party firewalls. There is not need for them. The XP Firewall is just fine.

Also if you connect to the Internet through a DSL or Cable Modem, there is a Hardware firewall built into the MODEM.

To see if comodo is running open up TASK Manager and look at the processes tab. Two ways to open task manager,
ctrl-alt-del or right click in a blank space on the task bar and select task manger from the menu.

For sure it sounds like the new firewall wasn't installed right and yes having two firewalls really isn't good at all. You should find the new firewall program under your start menu program menu , then there should be a un-install option there or by using alt control delete it should show up at least. Id simply turn on your xp firewall if you cant find that new firewall. For sure id get rid of the new firewall but you may need to reinstall it before its possible , plus if xp says possible corrupt files id suggest its probably a bad install or new firewall is indeed is corrupt.
