Copy and paste a link to address bar is dangerous if links have virus/trojan? |
I plan write a website directory in PHP. Websites will be submitted by users. I don't know how can I check submitted links are virus/trojan.. or not. Can you help me? It is dangerous if I just copy and paste on address bar or not?I mean that I don't click on the links, just copy/paste.Thank you. You can copy and paste a link without executing it. Just highlite the URL. copy + paste where needed. Or in firefox, right click the link and choose copy link location. In IE right click and choose copy shortcut. You can now just paste where needed. As long as you are not taken automatically to the link's target, it will be as safe as standing on your own two feet. If you ARE taken to the link's target....it's about as safe as throwing snowballs at a terrorist armed to the teeth. Well if the link is a direct download to a virus, malware, or spyware then it is very dangerous... It is also possible for the website the links are bringing you to to have spyware.. I know some anti virus programs will have internet protection that can tell you which links are considered bad links..hope that points you in the right direction. |
