Help! I need to buy an anti-virus software thingie for my new laptop but it's hard to choose!? |
My 30-day free suscription to Trend Micro PC-cillin Internet Security is almost over and I was wondering if I should continue subscribing or buy a new one. I mean, I also love Norton Anti-Virus 360. I just can't seem to choose! Can people recommend anti-virus software, like what they think is the best one? Like from personal experience or reviews? Norton 360 the best! norton i have avg. its free on download.com and ive never had any problems, download.com reviews it well and people I know who work with or are really good with computers have reccommended it. I've found that Norton can really slow your computer down. I am a fan of McAfee. I've been using McAfee for 10 years now and I don't have any problem. Use McAfee. I would recommend mcafee aver norton, with my experience mcafee doesnt slow down your computer like norton and mcafee is very simple to use and setup. A nice free one to use is AVG Free edition. I'm using that one currently. If you want to pay for a better one, I'd recommend Kaspersky Anti-Virus software. Payed: You cannot replace an internet security suite like your Trend Micro product with a simple anti-virus "thingie". There is a huge difference. A security suite is a complete and comprehensive set of security tools including an anti-virus, an antispyware, a firewall, an anti-spam and more. Kaspersky Internet Security 7. Norton slows computer down, Mcaffe has poor scan results and is horrible (experience) and some of my friends who have it get viruses all the time just from surfing the web and little downloading. I dont. Well, all I can say is this. I paid for Trend Micro, got infected anyway. Paid for Norton, it sucked and took up too much space. Paid for a couple others, Kaspersky included. They sucked. Avg, which is free and pretty good, you still get infected. Best freebie is, and I've used it for 2 years and never had a problem, is Avira. But you can download something called nod32, by eset, for a free 30-day trial, and it is awesome and will kill, clean up anything. And then if you want to buy it, you can. But why pay for something, when you can get something awesome for free? And you can buy the professionial version of Avira, but up to now, the free version works so well, why buy the professional version? But truthfully, if I had the money to spend, I would buy nod32, by eset. It's unbeliveable. do not use mcafee I used it on my brand new 4000 dollar computer never went on bad sites or downloads and it got a virus about 9 mounths later. I didn't even have it for a year and it can't be fixed so about a year later we got a mac and their virus free and 45% faster than pcs so I'm happy and don't use mcafee they SUCK mcafee's 2008 total protection -you can't go wrong with it. very easy for beginners Kaspersky is the best anti-virus out there and has a lot of capabilities that other don't. SO far kaspersky has the best anti virus of all anti-viruses If you are not sure, go to Download.com (part of Cnet) and you find loads of reviews from users who tried it out and recommendations from the editor. Also try PC Advisor site, Major Geeks site, and Consumersearch. Ad Aware, Spy bot - search and destroy,Spy ware Doctor are some good spy ware removers. AVG Anti virus and McAfee virus scan are also supposed to help a lot.check out http://blog.360.yahoo.com/blog-sAFtLsc8e... for more details. check out this site, they give you a sony vaio laptop FOR FREE!! i got mine last week and it's smokin'! PC Tools Spyware Doctor. It doesn't slow your computer down and seems to pick up more 'threats' than Norton or AVG, though whether this has any importance depends of how you define a 'threat', I suppose. |
